The structure of The Vision Council is formed by committees or Councils, in which people with common interests are gathered with the purpose of forming networks, sharing experiences and projects, and deepening in specific areas. The Councils are not always the same; they are organized in accordance with the needs of the region where it takes place, of the local community and the host group interests. The Councils that have been convened for the 15th Vision Council “The Call of the Water” in Bacalar are:
TRADITION AND SPIRITUALITY COUNCIL
NATURAL TIME COUNCIL
SOCIAL MOVEMENTS COUNCIL
ART AND CULTURE COUNCIL
Every morning all the participants gather in a plenary session coordinated by the Rainbow Council. There, the topics regarding the operation of the ecovillage are communicated and resolved, issues of common interest are discussed; we participate in group activities; we talk about our common projects, particularly sustainable settlements, formalize the rights of Mother Earth and ecological projects under a bioregional perspective. In the plenary sessions stories about these twenty years of tribal gatherings are told.
PARTICIPATIVE PROCESS FOR DECISION MAKING
We will practice group decision making through different processes, such as the Talking Stick, sociocracy and consensus. Along the way we will learn how to use those tools. The consensus process, when well understood and applied, allows us to carry out more productive, efficient and respectful meetings, and to reach agreements that all of us are responsible for and are benefitted from.
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CIRCLES
At some point during the week we will meet separately to reflect and share visions about parenthood-motherhood, personal development, coexistence and mutual understanding, sexuality, nature and communication.
Within the framework of the indigenous traditions, at the Vision Council the temazcales (sweat lodge ceremony), salute to the four directions and ceremonial fires are everyday practices. In the spirit of learning, understanding, offering and purification, every tradition can go to the Tradition Council and request a time and space to share its own teachings and ceremonies with the interested participants.
CELEBRATION, CULTURE AND ART
The Art and Culture Council is commissioned to organize workshops and conferences, and to channel and integrate the artistic proposals that emerge during the event. It organizes a program that can include dance, music, poetry, circus arts and comedy. Conscious and proactive art is preferred, under the slogan of “art as an agent of change.”
The last day of the event will consist of an art festival open to the local public.______________________________________________________________________
